MBA Industrial Management at Baker College
The Industrial Management MBA at Baker College
has been designed to complement undergraduate
degrees of the many students who work in corporations
in the manufacturing and industrial sectors.
It is composed of both core MBA courses and specific
manufacturing-oriented courses. Students with
a bachelor's degree in industrial management
will find this degree path a logical next step
in their education process.
Specialized Courses for Industrial
Management MBA
Labor and Industrial Relations
Provides students the opportunity to analyze industrial
relations by looking at the history of the labor movement
and public policy in industrial relations. This course
will also focus on union and management policies, strategies
and outcomes of union organizing, negotiations, grievance
and arbitration procedures, conflict and dispute resolution,
as well as legal issues in industrial relations.
Manufacturing and Quality Assurance
Examines some of the quality frameworks of some of
the world's leading quality experts (Crosby, Taguchi)
to allow students to explore issues related to the
management of quality control systems. Additionally,
students will examine issues such as quality planning
and statistical quality control and the concepts of
Deming and Juran as they relate to Total Quality Management.
Production Control
Enables students to take a systems approach to forecasting,
operations planning, scheduling, and inventory control
using MRP and other integrative systems. The primary
delivery method for this course will be the case study,
thus allowing students to examine actual production
systems and their problems.
Project Management
Addresses project management from a managerial perspective.
The process of managing projects from selection and
initiation to operation and completion is discussed,
as well as the demands made on the project manager
and the particular problems associated with dealing
with diverse personalities, organizations, and cultures.
Production - Operations Management
Focuses the students' attention on the emerging awareness
of the importance of operations function in America
and around the world. These concepts are relevant to
both manufacturing and service industries. This course
focuses on decision making surrounding the multitude
of activities, including Total Quality Management,
which are necessary to produce or process goods and
services both in the public and private sector.
